Elizabeth Newall

Elizabeth Newall

Associate Director for Teaching and Learning, University of Nottingham
As the University of Nottingham Libraries’ Associate Director for Teaching and Learning, Elizabeth is the senior lead for the delivery of support to enhance student learning and outcomes.  She works across faculties and with professional services to create links and collaborations, helping design and deliver a support offer that maps to the entire student lifecycle.  This includes the delivery of University-wide academic, digital and information literacy teaching, and learning resources, for students in both synchronous and asynchronous environments.  The Student Digital Capabilities Delivery Plan she introduced in 2021 is transitioning recommendations endorsed by the University’s Teaching and Learning Committee into new provision for students, and this has been recognised as strategically important in the University’s new Education and Student Experience Strategic Delivery Plan.  Her previous work to implement a new, University-wide, information literacy offer won her a Lord Dearing Award that recognises excellence in teaching and learning at the institution; she was the first librarian in its twenty year history to have been given the award.
