29 Mar 2023
Auditorium
Inclusion
This session will explore whether Inclusivity (EDI) is merely a tick box exercise for HEI's and to what extent the sector has made progress in breaking barriers. Both speakers are from widening participation backgrounds, grew up in some of the poorest neighbourhoods in the UK and will be speaking about real life experiences, having broken barriers and glass ceilings in academia themselves. The session will notably focus on admissions processes, curriculum design and student success/attainment). It will offer hints and tips focusing on how institutions can become more inclusive and diverse. The session will conclude by exploring the benefits, challenges, and future of inclusive practice. You will learn about the impact of organisational culture and the drivers of change.
Speakers
Dilshad Sheikh, Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) & Dean Faculty of Business - Arden University
Nav Ahmed, Principal Lecturer (Quality and Enhancement), The Institute of Foundation Studies - Arden University
